I was diagnosed type two back in march and was put on 500mg metformin then around a month ago It got upped to 850mg plus another tablet in the morning (can't remember name of it) I've been fine up to last couple of weeks but started to feel sick a lot and tired last few days I've been getting a lot of indigestion too. Could this be side effects of the tablets after all this time? And has anyone else had indigestion from them? Any input would be greatly appreciated thanks

Hello Mac75,
Unfortunately metformin is notorious for causing digestion problems, it made me feel sick after about three weeks of taking it and it took a while to settle. I only had indigestion when I ate something I shouldn't (AKA High Carbohydrate!) . It may be that the extra dose is just a bit too much for you, and it can take a while to manifest any symptoms. Have you been losing weight? Sometimes that can increase the upset stomach risk as well, if the dose becomes too much for your reduced body mass. It's probably best to go back to the doctor / diabetes nurse to get your symptoms checked out. I know it can be a faff getting an appointment these days, but it's best to be careful.

Thanks for the replys not lost any weight but will go back and see doctor. Not got the medication to hand so can't say for sure
