Metformin Question.

At my last 6 monthly check up i asked the G.P if he could put me on Metformin S.R Instead of normal due to upset stomach. The G.P put me on the S.R version but whilst i have been taking these my blood sugars have risen to between 11.0 and 13.5 throughout the day whereas before my blood sugars were reading a constant 6.5 to 7.5.
I went to see the nurse yesterday for my six monthly blood test as i have my check next week with my G.P and i just know it's going to be high .I was just wondering has anyone else had this problem with the S.R version

Interesting? Metformin in any form only ever has a small effect on blood sugar. It is at it's best helping to reduce insulin resistance in those who are overweight. I have no idea why you have seen this change but I would stick with the SR version as prescribed. What sort of diet do you have? Are you keeping the carbs down?
