Metformin related hot flushes

Hi, since I started taking metformin (November 2015) I've been suffering from very uncomfortable hot flushes, usually around half an hour after eating, but just recently at night and at other times too. I'm 56 and had a short-lived fairly mild menopause a couple of years ago, so I don't think it can be that. Does anyone else suffer from this? Is it actually connected in some way to taking metformin? I ask because I had no such problem prior to taking it. Other than that I have tolerated it well, I think.

Conclusions Long term treatment with metformin increases the risk of vitamin B-12 deficiency, which results in raised homocysteine concentrations. Vitamin B-12 deficiency is preventable; therefore, our findings suggest that regular measurement of vitamin B-12 concentrations during long term metformin treatment should be strongly considered.

Check also Folate/Folic Acid deficiency symptoms.

A good multivitamin should cover B12 and Folic acid.
