Metformin side effects

Hello I am recently diagnosed type 2 prescribed 3 x 500mg metformin tablets and am experiencing possible side effects from medication.
I am at present experiencing an excess of wind and I am belching constantly with quite foul smelling breath (rotten eggs/ sour milk) and also I have excessive flatulence.
This is the third time since commencing taking 3 tablets a day that these symptoms have occurred,I started with one tablet per day for the first week then 2 on the second week which led on to a couple of days with sickness and diarrhoea ,then after consulting with my Doctor went onto 3 tablets after meals per day.The sickness and diarrhoea have not returned but the bloated uncomfortable wind has intermittently.
I would be grateful for any help and advice .
 
hi, sorry your having problems, they call it metfartin for a good reason, my youngest daughter takes metfartin and she is a harp short of whole orchestra, maybe it will settle in time, whats your diet like?

I felt completely rubbish On metformin couldn't think n was nauseous n sick most days. I was on tablet twice aday. Now on the slow release type, they are bit better but not perfect. You cld ask your gp to change over to these
 
My problem with metformin is chronic constipation.I now have to take magnesium tablets and macrogol powders daily.
Soon Im sure I shall be taking something daily to combat what Im taking daily.!
