Hello, hope everybody is well. I have a question. My doctor told me that it's common the have issues with fluids in the Lou for a short time at the beginning of taking the drug, but stops. Well I am in it now for 3+ months, and it is getting pretty consistently bad. Seems like every few days I get a bought of it, and it may last a few days, then stop, then start up again...is this going to be a forever thing for me, becaause I'm seriously considering mounting a flat screen in my Lu.

Are you referring to metformin side effects such as diarrhoea? Metformin is tolerated by some and not others. For some the side effects are only for a short period of time and for others it continues the entire time they're on the drug. If you're not able to tolerate metformin, speak with your doc. I was on the drug along with other drugs added to the mix for about 5 years. I was on metformin only for about 2 of those years though. Unfortunately for me I didn't tolerate metformin the entire time no matter what the dose or type of tablet. But you'll see others here do well on it. I kept telling my docs and all they did was insist I had to be on the drug and just changed the dosage for me to see if I tolerated it better. I wish you the best. :)

There is a form of the drug named Metformin SR. SR stands for slow release and if the normal drug is causing you problems you may be better off with this - many find it beneficial, no guarantees though!

Speak to your doc, - good luck!

Hi. Yes, you need Metformin SR. If you cannot obtain the SR version as it's not available in all countries then it may be worth discussing stopping the drug with the doc as it doesn't have that much effect on blood sugar and isn't worth ongoing issues like yours. The right diet will have more effect than Metformin.
