I take them with and without food (usually former) and have no issues either wayIt says as doctor advises but I’ve been told different things by different doctors. It seems they don’t all follow the same guidelines
I take mine straight after my evening meal as my stomach tolerates it better and I only take one now as the side effects were a bit extreme.I take two metformin slow release per day. My question is do I have to take them with food? Sometimes I only want one meal and don’t want to force myself to eat for the sake of eating to take the pill. I don’t snack either.

your prescription should say a recommendation?

From personal experience, when I started taking them without food my blood sugar never changed, soon as I had food it would start to go down. I now have them with my breakfast and evening meal and work brilliantly.
Sounds good. Hopefully you will be like me, one of the many who tolerates it well. But to be fair, normal metformin was less ideal but as I recall it wasn’t as bad as some poor people get.Thank you. I’m on the slow release ones. I had a tummy upset from day two to day four but I’m on two a day now as into third week and touch wood no digestive issues only aching legs at night
