Metformin SR and muscle cramp

Does anyone else get calf muscle cramp at night when taking Metformin? I usually get it after a social evening with a G&T or wine. I don't drink at all apart from socially on occasions, and then moderately. I notice in the blurb it mentions to drink as little alcohol as possible!!! How much is that!!?!

Cramps can be due to a build up of lactic acid and that is why no alcohol is advised when taking Metformin as it is a side effect - perhaps having a couple of glasses of water after drinking alcohol might help - as long as there is time for it to work its way through the system before you go to bed.
I did not drink alcohol at all when taking Metformin, but got the cramps anyway.
