hi all , yesterday i was seen at hospital , Dr's told me my liver result were raised and borderline liver disease , he thinks it could be due to either my Metformin or my arthritis tabs , has anyone else had this happen to them with just being on Metformin

Hi. I guess it's possible. If you read the leaflet or Google Metformin side effects I think you have to be careful with liver disease present and it's more of a problem when you are older.

my mother died of liver and kidney failure Oct 6th 2013. her only med was metformin. 2 years prior, her Doctor perscribed 2x the regular dosage, trying to give her the boost into her system, trying to keep her off insulin. he died before reducing the dosage. the doctor who picked up her case, just continued on with whatever prior had, probably too much caseload. but the pharmacy should have caught it. the doctors at the hospital, before releasing her to hospice, unresponsive, 6 days after being admitted for a urinary trac infection, said it was due to non alcoholic surosis of the liver . never heard of it.
