Metformin

I have a twice yearly review with doctors, they say I don't need to check myself. !!
Hello @hainess652
They (the doctors) say that because they don't want to have to fund the cost. Get a SD Codefree meter and testing strips, using the code for a discount (Other testing meters are available!). There are some meters that can be given free by some companies, but they tend to have more expensive testing strips.
Quoting from their site:
'www.homehealth-uk.com Where diabetics (no vat will be charged) can find all their lancet and strip requirements for the SD Codefree monitor
Promo Code:
5 packs - 264086
10 packs - 975833'

There is lots of info on here about testing. I told the Dr that my 3 monthly check didn't tell me that that cake I had was bad for me 2 months ago, or that I'd had a roast tattie. In fact if I'd been testing I would have known that the wonderful fruit smoothies that I was making myself were loaded with bad sugar! I didn't know so had gaily been taking my 5 a day fruit..... Basically some of the Dr's have no idea about a diabetic diet! Luckily my diabetic nurse told me about the LCHF diet and that was the turning point for me. I had read on here about it, but was convinced that ALL fat was bad! I'm now off my medication and have lost loads of weight (yes some went back on again), but it's off again and I feel so much better off that beep-beep metformin and simvastatin! No more bowel problems :nailbiting: and no more leg cramps everynight.
