Hi I hope you can help I am type 2 and just on diet control at the moment but my father in law has just been diagnosed with type 2 and is on metformin one a day he says he isn't having a lot to eat but done his bloods today and it was 10.8 could this be his body getting used to the metformin?

Depends on what he ate.

Metformin doesn't do a lot to reduce blood glucose numbers dietary changes will be far more effective.

Do you know what his reading were before he was put on Metformin (often the NHS default still instead of low carb)? It might be that 10.8 is lower than before and his BS are still falling?

As you know, a change in diet will drop BS effectively.

He has been in hospital with an infection could that have something to do with it while he was in I think it was over 15

I hope he's feeling better now
Yes being ill will very likely drive blood sugars higher. I remember being told about the various impacts diabetes can have and that being Ill does impact, "sick day rules" by the nurse but it's a lot to take in when getting info and easy to forget until you are sick and realise levels are playing up
