You might find this very useful on what to eat to be dietary controlled.Hi, newly diagnosed type 2…..was given Metformin, felt so I’ll on it so stopped taking it!…..try to control it with diet!…..I don’t know if I’m doing the right thing with diet control, I feel so depressed at times, there’s no info on what I should eat and what I shouldn’t! The only information I have found is asking Google!…I don’t eat chocolate, or have sugar in my tea, don’t eat biscuits or sweets now, I’m going round the bend! xx
What does bg mean, and where would I get this meter?……..ThankyouBest way to prove what is good for your body is to regularly test your bg with a meter.
@Rachox has some details
Thank youHello @Fizzybird - all you need to know is that, if you are a plain ordinary type 2 then by reducing your blood glucose you should feel better fairly quickly. The glucose and other sugars come from what we eat and is the product of digesting starches and sugars, so grain, potatoes, sugary drinks, sweet fruits all contribute to the problem.
By testing to see how well a meal has been coped with it is possible to assess tolerance of various foods and to make changes to lower levels to more normal numbers.
I found that once I wasn't overloading my metabolism with 'healthy' carbs my numbers went on improving.
Exactly what I did.
Pills in the bin, diet changed completely 7 years in remission.

He used a very low carb diet and intermittent fasting with a few longer fasts thrown in.
Here's a couple of links that should help explain how he and many others have had success

Well - I could, but we are all different. Lots of us here can, so maybe you can as well, but if not, there is no shame in using whatever help is available. I was on metformin 2x daily, cut down to 1 x daily, then phased it out completely, and my diet controlled my BG and still is doing so.Please do you think I can control high bg with only diet.
