Hi there, my last hab1c was 7.3 so they increased my mets to 2 500mg in the morning and 1 500mg in the evening. Since then i have been having really bad lows, 3.5 and then going up to 4 and then going back down again, near lunch time. Even though i have had a banana mid morning. I feel really rough when this happens shakey and everything. At first thought it was because of monthly things! But now not so sure. Think maybe taking 1000mg first thing is too strong.Rang to speak to the nurse she is not available this week. Should i just drop to 500mg again in the morning until i can speak to her. Or carry on feeling rough until i can. All a bit scarey to be honest. I am type 2.

Hi, smoss9.

I take three x 500mg during the day, and I take one with each meal - breakfast, lunch and dinner. It might be worth trying that until you can speak to the nurse.

What are your morning fasting levels like?

I am normally between 6 and 7.5. I think that is an idea to spread it out instead of cutting it out. Thankyou. Just feel so rubbish still, although have gone up with my levels. Just the after effect is making me so tired and no energy.

I had that morning 1.5 weetabix and 1 banana mid morning. I exercise alot but that morning did not exercise. Today i have exercised took 1 tablet instead of 2 had my banana and now when i am thinking of lunch time, i have just tested and i am 5. So with the 2 tablets it is dropping me to low. I am going to take the second tablet at lunch time like you suggested.

It sounds as if it must have been the two metformin. I eat far less carb than you and don't drop so low. I'd stick with three times a day with your meals at least until you have chance to discuss it with the nurse.

Let us know what she says!

Got a phone call to see doc about blood pressure tablets on friday. So when i saw him, i asked about the meformin it is ok to split them up. He is also doing a blood test to test for B12 problems. Apparently metformin can cause that. So will see. Thanks for your help.
