hi iv been on metformin for 3 weeks now but i have compleatly lost my appertite i just dont want to eat at all :thumbdown: :thumbdown: anyone else going or gone through this or how long dos it last.
 
I went through something similar in the early days and told my nurse who reduced the dose. All is fine now.
 
I have been on Metformin for about 15 years and I'm sorry to say I have never had any associated loss of appetite.

I would sincerely like something to take away my appetite as it is being overweight that has given me type 2 diabetes.

Consider yourself lucky.
 
Hi. One of the standard side effects of Metformin is appetite loss (see the web or leaflet) and sometimes a strange metallic taste for the first few months (I had that). The appetite loss effect is useful in it's own right and my appetite did go down when I started it and has remained down. The body does adjust to Metformin so hopefully some appetite will return.
