Metformin
Your next blood test should be interesting! Well done.

I wonder how many T2's don't change their diet and excercise?
Thanks!

Another 1.6lbs of weight lost this week, my final target is now only a handful of pounds away. Not due another bloodtest till late in the year, but am tempted to get a Walmart DIY HbA1c test when in San Francisco on holiday next month. These are only $9 and you mail off the sample to get a full report by email or post. I might get a handful, at that price, and use them to fill the gap between 'official' tests.

Average fasting and PP readings still slowly falling, 14 day average is now 4.3 and fasting was 4.2 yesterday.

Pity ASDA in the UK owned by Walmart don't offer that!

hi do you think anybody could help me i started on metformin slow release 2000mg (2 tablets with evening meal) on saturday i couldnt believe the size of them so i have been cutting them in half to take since yesterday morning i have had terrible cramp pains in stomach and round bottom of back so i went on metformin site and it says do not break tablets as they are specially made tablets for slow release and by cutting them you could be getting double the dose if thats so could these pains be caused by this i just feel so daft too embarassed to go to ask gp or anybody else

Hi Candyog

You have answered your own question!! I have recently gone on to the 1g tablets - they are available in 500mg so you could ask to have them then that would be four pills with your evening meal. I asked for the 1g (only recently been available) just to cut out the amount of pills I have to take!
IMHO slow release tablets should never be cut!! Try swallowing them whole tonight and see how you get on - I havent had any problems taking them - I think when you look at them it is the thought that they are too big that trips you up!!

Hi Candyog,

Well thats the Metformin sorted out now to the Byetta!! It will be 12 weeks on Tuesday next (14th) since I started on the Byetta and am still on the 5 pen. However I do think I need to go up to the 10 pen next week - now or never I feel, so I will need to ring the diabetes nurse to see if that is ok. Funny, I have had a sore throat the last couple of days and my numbers have been staying higher.
Since I started on the Byetta we have had a conservatory built (6 weeks), my eldest son was involved in a very traumatic incident -he drives car transporters, was beaten up, tied up, 6 cars taken off his truck and to add insult to injury he has not received any sick pay except the state sick pay and he is responsible for 4 children under 12. (he is 36) Then yesterday I received a phone call from my bank to say that someone had used my delta card numbers and tried to take over £1,000 from my bank. I am beginning to think that some of the stresses I am living with have caused my numbers to be higher - what do you think?
So it looks like we will be going oon to the 10 pen together so we still have our deal at the moment? I am still taking a ginger capsule with my breakfast and will continue to do so. I am dead jealous that you have lost so much weight - it doesnt seem to be working for me - are you eating very much and are you exercising?

loads of great advice there. I'd suggest one more thing.
get the meter and strips. chose whichever of the reliable brands.
Then keep a diary of BG and foods. Take it to your doctor and tell him you need more strips toget in control.

hi jude i cant believe what you have been through recently i totally agree stress (youve had your fair share) effects sugar levels and as you said sore throat s i had a cold last week which highered my sugar levels no im not eating half of what i used to eat like you still feel sick at times finding breakfast very hard i just dont feel like anything in the morning at the moment forcing 1 weetabix down but an hour after feel sick and thanks to you ginger capsule does the trick i take the dog for walk along beach for half an hour every morning and during day look after 2 young grandchildren whom keep me going on my feet but i know i should go for walk after tea but i feel so tired by then (sugar levels high dont help) all i do is sit and watch telly let my husband take the dog . what are your sugar levels like mine are 17,s to 18,s by the evening thats why i know ive got to give the 10 byetta a go i hope everything improves in your life nothing else could possibly go wrong for you and like you said its bound to take a toll on your health alltogether take care for now
