Hi I am a newbe and I have a question.
I have been waking with a migrane most days and my reading are around 6.5 is this normal for this kind of reading for a pre diabetic
Thanks for any help

May have nothing to do with diabetes. The most common cause of headaches in the morning is obstructive sleep apnea - this can have serious consequences. GET IT CHECKED!

I wonder if it's the impact of Carbs.

I used to waked most mornings with a headache as did my wife.

Then 2 weeks ago I was given a T2 diagnosis.

I started a Low carb high fat diet which I've been sticking to and not had a single headache and the same goes for my wife who is not diabetic, but has joined me, though slightly more relaxed just to support me.

Maybe worth exploring.

I spent years with, sometimes, 2 day headaches. Now, well apart from stress ones, I only get headaches when I've overdone carbs, tho often cumulatively after a cupla days of eating 'unwisely'

Tomorrow I am three weeks post diag and my wife and I were only saying last night, I have not had a single headache. I used to have one every other day for years. I'm guessing it's the dramatic reduction in carbs.

I've been a long term chronic migraine sufferer, but I've definitely had fewer and generally "milder" migraines since I started low carbing a couple of years ago after being diagnosed as type 2. Since migraines can be food related, I've wondered whether I was previously reacting to various additives (rather than actual carbs) in processed foods that I'd not realised were an issue.

Robbity

Possibly Robbity...my experiences were also chronic migraines, since I was a kid and I'm 54 now, so three weeks without one headache is a life first for me....I just can't believe it :)

I reckoned it was worth becoming diabetic for, Kevin, though my medications had also done much to alleviate them previously.

It's just occurred to me that switching brain fuel from carbs to ketones/fats may be another possible reason for improvement - as ketogenic diets have long been used as treatment for epileptics, and migraines bmay also be brain related.

Robbity

Excellent Robbity, maybe you're onto something!

I have sleep apnea linked to metabolic syndrome. It can induce a whole lot of nasty things including diabetes. Get it checked. It also deprives you from oxygene and therefore causes white matter in your brain. I ve had two brain Mris to prove it
