I am a newly diagnosed type 1 diabetic. I sometimes drink a pint of milk between mealtimes. Should I be taking an extra dose of insulin (3) when this happens? Let me know cheers guys and gals.

It depends what your blood sugar does afterwards. A pint of milk is very approximately 25g carbs so you might need to bolus. It depends on what you're doing (eg are you exercising?) and if your blood sugar goes high after the milk without a bolus.
If you're at all uncertain, check with your DSN and err on the side of caution.
