We cannot cope without tea, and we need milk in it What milk is best for a low calorie diet?
 
Hello,forgive me but you do mean calorie? Not carb?
 
Full fat cows milk is only 4% fat so in low fat diet terms it is classed as low fat. Semi skimmed is about 2% fat, you can get 1% and skimmed is 0.1%. Not sure on the percentages for other milks
 
Speaking strictly in terms of calories- skim milk will have the lowest

However, the trade-off is that skim milk often has a higher carbohydrate content which is particularly important for diabetics.

I personally buy 2% milk as I find it to be a good balance- same level of carbs as whole milk, but noticeably fewer calories.

Unless you like your tea really milky I don't think the difference between skimmed, semi-skimmed and full-fat is worth worrying about.

For a low carb lifestyle, only cream is recommended.
But have it without, so you can actually taste the tea and not the milk.

Milk in all its form may not be ideal for some with blood glucose disorders including diabetics, as the lactose is quickly absorbed and turns into glucose quickly. The most sensible milk to put into tea if you have to (sacrilege!) is full fat!
 
I'm not diabetic and I'm the one who likes really milky tea. I think I'll go with the semiskimmed, thanks everybody
 
If you are having a pint of milk you need to factor it in , a splash (even a large dollop) in a cuppa is not really worth worrying about.............(unless you are having 20 cups a day )
 
Well... that's the problem lol I do drink a LOT of tea. Will add in a pint every day into myfitnesspal site. ty.
 
Suggest having a look at calorie counts of A2 and lactose free milks. You may find the carbs are low and if skimmed, calories too.
 
Well, you posted on the low calorie forum, so skimmed milk is the only way to go.
190 calories per pint.
Next to no difference in the carbs.
It's all I drink, in coffee, and for the amount of milk per cup, the amount of carbs fall well within my tolerance.
I hate cream in coffee, I'd rather have it black than destroy the flavour with such an overpowering high calorie taste.
I would suggest, if you have a meter, check after a cup of tea with skimmed milk, you won't destroy the flavour, and you may be pleasantly surprised.

I'm not on low calorie but I bought Morrisons' M organic longlife unsweetened soya milk yesterday £1 for 1 litre. Lactose free, GM free, suitable for vegetarians, 36 calories per 100ml, 0.4g carbs per 100ml. Rubbish in cocoa but in Earl Grey tea it's fine.
