Was a mini your first car? Did you mod it at all? Dream of modding it? This chap has done the works and turned it into a useable 4x4

and yes your eyes are telling you the truth and it is a Ka in the back ground.

Yes, a Mini was my first car.......that I won! Well, okay, the first and only car I ever won but it will always hold a special place in my heart! Actually this photo was taken about a couple of weeks after my diagnosis of having diabetes,in 2003, so it was a very mixed year for me.

After a succession of motor bikes & combinations, my first car was an Isetta:

I bought it one November in freezing rain :( What a luxury to have a lid :)
It had a bench seat for two, & our 3-year old sat between us, while the baby went in the carry cot on the back shelf with everything we & he needed packed round him.

The brakes always pulled one way, so I had to steer into a straight line. I sold it for a Reliant after 18 months. My first NEW car was a Mini Traveller. By the time we parted with it, we had 5 children, so 4 went on the back seat, & the baby in a folding pram in the boot. The next purchase was a motor caravan, so we then had S - P - A - C- E .

My mum's first car was a leaf green mini called Ossie (Austin - geddit?!) Mum passed her test first time while she was at college in Wales and her dad got it for her as a present but she sold it when she married my dad.

IanD, I vaguely recall my parents owning one of these beauties, which had to go when my brother arrived on the scene...

My first car was a Mini Cooper, which cost an absolute fortune to insure but was well worth it for the grin factor.

You put the baby in the boot Ian!!!??

Mini Traveller - with two back doors like a van. It was a cunning pram design we could just fold it complete with baby, & lift it in.

First car for me was a Ford Anglia, but second car was a mini. It was a battleship grey minivan and not a great deal worked. The indicators would go when they felt like it, the windscreen wipers had an annoying habit of flying off from time to time, and the petrol gauge was a length of wood with notches cut into it at one gallon intervals. But it got us around. When we finally traded it in for a brand new Beetle, the VW dealers were offering £25 for your old car regardless of condition (yes, it was a long time ago!). They took one look at the mini and paid us £30 to not trade it in! I finally sold it for scrap for a fiver.
