Miracle noodles

Trying to find an alternative to pasta and regular noodles. Has anyone else tried these?

I understand they are just ordinary shitaki noodles which I have never come across before.

They sound pretty good to me, zero carbs and zero cals, wonder what the catch is, £10 a packet perhaps or maybe they taste awful, please let me know how you get on if you try them :D

Well I've since found these http://barenakedfood.co.uk/shop/page/1?shop_param= They seem to be slightly modified shirataki noodles without the fishy smell and not so chewy. I've ordered a couple of packs so I will post results as soon as.

I've been on a low carb diet for 3 days and I can't stop dreaming about spag bol and my daughter's amazing pasta bakes

Well I tried them for the first time today. Slightly modified to include soya fibre and wholemeal flour but still only 4 carbs per packet unless you add the supplied chili sauce which has a 'little' sugar in it. I dry roasted them in a hot non stick pan for about 5 minutes and added a small tin of tuna together with seasoning, garlic salt, chili powder and pepper. The result: a little chewy but very tasty and very filling. There was no 'fishy' smell from these noodles. I think I will buy more as they are the ideal size for a low carb lunch. I would be interested if anyone else has tried them.

They sound interesting!

They are tasteless but I think the key is getting the seasoning right. Sauces, apparently, don't stick to the noodles but the seasoning does. I'm going to try something fairly powerful, chilis or maybe jerk seasoning :D This should make a good side dish.

I found some on Amazon, but the reviews were really bad. I will have a try of the ones you found Foxy

I had a pack of noodles with some bolognese sauce, and they were pleasantly surprising. I did put in the small pack of chilli sauce. Dear for a pack, but a nice change now and then :)

BTW. Two hours after eating my BS`s were 4.8.

Sounds like a good result :D

Shirataki noodles are available in many Japanese and Chinese shops. There is a big demand from non-DB low carbers. Rinsing well gets rid of the fishy odour. I find them nice as a pasta alternative with a vegetable sauce. They cost about $4.20...about GBP 2.70 per pack. Worth a try....I had used them before DB and will do so more often now
cheers

Picked some up at my local Wing Yip Supermarket this morning 228gms £1.25 so I shall be trying them in a stir fry tonight.

Oh it seems ages since I had noodles, thought they would be off my menus for the foreseeable future so here's hoping they are edible. Chickened out on experimenting on my OH though so he will be getting his beloved Udon Noodles as usual.
