Type of diabetes
Type 2
Last year after blood tests gp said I was pre diabetic then he decided to put me on metformin 1daily visited different gp in practice he took me of as he said I hadn't full blown diabetes. Now after numerous tests for symptoms e.g. blurred vision, aches and pains, vertigo, tinnitus and tingling in hands and feet I was sent for an mri and have just been diagnosed with chiari malformation and have signs on brain of small stroke waiting now to see neurologist . I have been put back on metformin and continue with many other medications which I have been on for various illnesses. So basically I. Am confused as to whether or not I am diabetic fellow forum users I would appreciate your thoughts I am on so much medication am beginning to wonder if it's all necessary sorry to be so long winded

Further to previous post forgot to say that I am very familiar with diAbetes having been married to my late husband who was type 1 from he was 16 until he passed away at 49 and suffered badly with no warning typos and my current partner is also type 2 on insulin and tablets

Only a qualified medical professional can make a diagnosis. It might be worth ringing your gp surgery to speak to someone who can clarify what is going on. In the meantime if your partner has a monitor you could test your levels for an idea of whether or not they are in the diabetic range for when you speak to your gp. Hope you find out what is going on soon and start to feel better

It sounds like you have been through the mill. The best thing to do is to make an appointment with your GP to specifically discuss your concerns , just make sure to make a list of questions you would like
to ask.

Gp told me not to go by my home tests their long term tests were more accurate lol

Huh although I find their tests useful to keep.an eye on everything it is my home testing which gives me piece of mind. I predicted through the average on my home meter that my next Hb test would be 35 mmol, average of 6mmol, 5.4% and when I actually went for my Hb test the results were 34mmol, average of 5.8mmol, 5.3% .
