Missed 1 metformin dose

I'm type 2 diabetic and the only medication I take is metform.

I normally take 2 tablets at about 7:30 and 2 at about 22:00

Today I was hurrying in the morning and forgot the morning dosage. I got back in at about 20:30 and took two tablets. Should I take another two at 22:00, or just leave it?

From everything I read online it says you obviously should try and take it in regular doses, but missing one dose isnt the end of the world, but Ive read other things saying that all that really matters is not exceeding the 24 hour dosage in a 24 hour period, and some people regularly take their whole days worth in one go.

Just wondered if anyone else had experience of this and what you found best?

I take 4 at night before dinner plus 4 different tabs for other things.

I am not sure if if metformin is cumlative I know some of my other meds are.

What I was told by my endicronologist diabetes specialist was that 6 per day is max but 6 does very little more than 4. So if I needed more control than 4 could give me he had something else he could prescribe.

It's certainly not the end of the world and all of the advice I have had in the past says that you should not try to catch up. We have all had this problem before and many of us have used gadgets or alarm clocks on mobile phones etc. in order to remind us.

With me the problem was that when I got into a routine of taking tablets I could not be sure if I had taken them or if I was remembering taking them yesterday.

imo, as @squire also said, taking 2 dose to make up a dose doesn't work and isn't needed.
if on slow release you can take 4 once a day as a normal dose, if you want to. as @forge does
I take 3 slow release, once a day at an irregular time.
the standard met I would split
