So far since coming off Mixtard 30 after 8 years I have tried Humulin M3, Humulog 50, Lantus and Apidra and Insulatard but all to no avail. I have either come out in a rash on my face, my back or have been itchy all over. Have been to see a consultant endocrinologist who is now trying to ween me off of insulin and put me back on tablets. Has anybody out there had the same bad fortune? because I would be interested to hear of your experiences and if you have been fortunate to find some insulin that you are compatible with. Why o why have Novo discontinued Mixtard 30!!!

Have you tried Novorapid and levemir? Also animal insulins are still available.
If it's not possible to control your blood sugar on tablets, maybe a combination of tablets and Byetta (theres another injectable one too, I don't know the name) would work?
Also, are you sure the rash is caused by the insulin? It could be coincidence that it started when you started the new insulin, if it's urticaria it has countless possible causes.

The IDDT posted a thread a while ago about the discontinuation of Mixtard 30.
