We are having roast chicken for dinner tomorrow (No, I'm not a Sunday "lunch") type of person and agree that it smells most gawjus.

BUT - I just cannot go into ecstasies at the idea of eating wings or skin or any of those stringy or wobbly bits near the bone

I have always been like this ( can't stanbd the fat or skin on meat) and don't think I will ever change!

Oh dear, around my place all that's left out of a chicken is just clean dry bones

Re: Mmmmm I love the smell of roast chicken in the morning..

Cant enjoy hot chicken unless its completely de-boned and de-skinned...
Any fat, skin, bones, gristle or even grease goes through me [[[[[shiver!]]]]]
Like it totally lean and sliced thinly, this is the only way for me.
Always fussy/finicky with any meat AND fish too....
Anna.

Oooooo, that made me shiver with that thought too.

Re: Mmmmm I love the smell of roast chicken in the morning..

From childhood I always got the 'job' of relieving the cooked chicken of it's crispy skin because my mother liked only a tiny amount of fat and my sister had to have her meat totally dry and devoid of any fat or gravy. I couldn't even look at a piece of meat without a good helping of fat and or gravy. Still can't.

I would also scoff the lamb fat as soon as it came out of the oven while they looked on and balked. I would then eat a very small plate of dinner. I just could not eat any kind of meat without it's fat. Fat was the first thing I went for, meat content second, then veg.

I also always made my own chicken soup complete with skin. And I was fit as a fiddle and trim as a twig. Only when the 'fat police' started scaring me with their statistics did I change my eating habits and if I'm honest, I haven't enjoyed eating for years yet I continued to do as I was told.

Now with diabetes I'm going right back to the way I used to eat and feeling better for it and if my doctor tells me I'm now resolving my diabetes but increasing my risk of heart attack I'll tell her that I'd rather live my life enjoying what I eat and take the risk of dying happy!
