Doctors don't seem to know anything about Monckeberg or how to treat it here in Spain. I am trying L carnitine supplement and taking 100mg aspirin and simvastatin 10mg daily. Anyone help please?

Just thought I'd post something here as you've gone a few days without any feedback.

From a brief Google search it would appear that not only is this issue uncommon, it's also not very well understood...

Who gave you your diagnosis and were they unable to refer you to a cardiovascular specialist of sorts?

From the little information I could find, it would appear that this is a chronic condition attributed to being diabetic (along with others). It's my understanding like chronic kidney disease, retinopathy, neuropathy, etc - that there are no treatments. Only proactive measures the patient can take to stem the progression. Such as better glucose control, increased exercise and an improved diet.

Hopefully you'll get feedback from someone else living with such a condition on the forum. In the meantime I would arrange an appointment with your GP and find out all you can about this condition and things you can do to prevent your symptoms/condition worsening. If your GP is unable to provide you with the guidance you need, hopefully they can point you in the direction of someone who can.

Good luck,

It was picked up on a foot injury by x ray. Referred to a cardiovascular surgeon who told me what it was but he just said come back if the symptoms worsen (restless legs)
