Hi,
I'm coming to the end of a month of monitoring my BG levels and trying to alter my lifestyle with a low carb diet. I've been keeping a food diary on My Fitness Pal and posting my carbs, cals and BG level on a thread in the low carb forum.
I'm not seeing a rapid weight loss. I am losing slowly, which I know is a good way to lose weight, but others on a low carb diet seem to lose loads at first. I'm taking Gliclazide, and my diabetic nurse said this would inhibit weight loss (also on Metformin).
I'm still very much learning about diabetes and low carbing (despite being diagnosed several years ago I stupidly ignored the whole thing). I think I've been eating too much protein
My questions are:
How much are BG levels a reflection of what I've just eaten or a combination of that and what I had the day before? I know about the differences testing before food, straight after and 2 hrs later, but I'm also noticing that a lot of protein the day before seems to leave a lingering higher level for up to 18 hrs later. Is this normal?
So if I'm looking at patterns in what's going on in my diet and general lifestyle, should I really be looking at my BG the day after my food intake/exercise diary?
Perhaps I should record my protein levels too to get a full picture of what I'm doing and the effect is has?
On a different note, is there a thread where all the acronyms used on the forum are listed? I struggle with some - LCHF was one - low calorie high fibre, low carb high fat ?? I think it's the second, but for a while i though low carb high fibre.
