Monitoring sugar level by T2 diabetic patients

I just read the post of a forum member and understand that in UK daily monitoring of sugar levels by T2 patients are not authorized and strips not prescribed . It surprises me .In Canada there is no restriction in getting prescriptions as a T2 . I wonder how a T2 will know what is his/her level on a particular day /situation . Does it then mean that the T2 diabetes is not a risk ?? How comes??

I have read this document and it would seem that Canada does not authorise unlimited test strips for Type 2s. or is there another scheme?

In the UK there are no hard and fast rules as to prescribing test strips for Type2 diabetics. It is a postcode lottery and many Doctors will rely on the HBA1c test rather than funding strips.

I do not get strips free of charge . I buy these . So, I am not familiar with any scheme that might provide free . I had never been refused by my doctor in getting prescriptions to buy test strips. But, in occasions I was refused reimbursement by my insurance company saying that only patients taking insulin are entitled to get insurance reimbursement
