Hi All.

i was diagnosed last august and 'took to it' quite well to start with. my nurse said to me this was the 'honeymoon' period. i didn't believe her. but in the last 2 1/2 months i've been suffering from horrible, un-explainable moods swings. i'm crying ALOT! i'm getting angry for no reason at everyone (even the cat)? i've got the wierdest sleeping patterns; late to bed, up at the crack of dawn, then falling asleep until 5pm at night.

i really feel like things have gone from 'manageable' to completely out of control.

what am i doing wrong?

David

Hi @didgenoosh
welcome to the forum !!:)

as we are all different there is no 1 way that is right or works for everyone , but the feelings you describe are not uncommon in my opinion.
the first thing to ask is how stable are your Blood sugars ?
swinging BG's will contribute to you having the mood swings for sure.

are you testing often ( this helps to establish if there are any patterns )
your DSN ( Nurse) can then help you to make adjustments to your doses.

have you spoken to your DSN ( Diabetes nurse )
to explain what you are going through ??

Hello @didgenoosh Sorry to hear you have been feeling this way, @himtoo has made a good suggestion to speak with your Nurse and tell them how you are feeling.

A couple of thoughts cross my mind.. I became quite depressed after diagnosis to the point where I went to see my GP to get help, I found that I went through a period of grieving after diagnosis as i'd gone from being pretty fit and well to then accepting a lifetime of type 1, I struggled with everything at this point but asked for help and although it wasn't immediate in time I came to accept the diagnosis and move forward, I started meditation and exercising more, both helped hugely. I also found that by keeping my BG more stable so not running high/low all the time that this too helped my mood, it took some work but I have reached a happy medium and the learning curve helped me manage alot better.

Please do talk to those around you too - tell them what you are experiencing, this will help you cope better too, am always happy to chat so please drop me a PM too ;)
