Mood swings?

Hi,

Only found out last week and still waiting to find out type etc after meeting nurse, pretty much stopped eating sugar & junk where possible and now feel like a twitchy junkie coming down from some freaky trip? Mood really up and down, miles worse than when I stopped smoking & drinking.

Can anyone advise if this is a normal reaction?

On a plus note my chronic thirst has gone down, also the doc said I "scored" 17 on the blood test which he said defo means diabetes but 17 not excessively high any pointers on this?

you don't have to love coming off high carbs
fasting BG of 17 or was it after the sugar drink test?
mood swings may also be from finding out you're diabetic too, most of us take a while to come to terms with it.

Hi, I've been diabetic for 14 years, but have always had a problem with high carb foods. Cutting out sugar makes me feel how I imagine an addict must feel coming off alcohol/drugs. I'm not an angry person but when I cut out sugar, the first couple of weeks I'm the moodiest, angriest person, it's horrible! Settles down after that though and then I feel much better for it I also find it impossible to control my blood sugars unless I do low carb, I think it's quite a common problem but not everybody seems to struggle with this.

The reading of 17 was taken from the overnight fasting test.

I'm grateful to all bods on here so far for info and support!

I think that 17 needs working on and you will see LCHF low carbs high fat, talked about.
a BG meter is worth its weight in gold. ask the Dr or get the code free from amazon uk

have a read about how to handle carb cravings, I ate coconut oil by the teaspoon every 1/2 hr for the first week

Thanks, forgive my ignorance but does the 17 figure confirm I'm diabetic or do I need a glucose test?

I found this site a great help and it won't take long to get your sugar down
the fasting 17 confirms you are a diabetic
over 7 fasting, you're a diabetic,
over 11 at any time means you are diabetic
over 11 at 2 hr glucose test, you're a diabetic
