I have some numbers back from the latest c-peptide test. Thought I'd post them on here in case someone knows what they might mean..

The C-Peptide came back as 0.35 in the range 027 - 1.28 and the Plasma Insulin came back as 132 pmols/litre in the range 18 - 77

That's double dutch to me and, I suspect, my GP - so he's referring me to a diabetologist (?) at the Churchill in Oxford, but thought I'd post the numbers anyway as knowledge is power and all that.

The C-pep test, showing the levels of the By-product of your own natural insulin production seems to be the low end of normal range but the Plasma Insulin levels being above range, not sure..was you using Lantus at the time of the test? could that have swayed the numbers on that particular test? confusing things these values sometimes.

Yes, I am on a little bit of Lantus (5u) twice a day and the doc did say that the lantus might have swayed the insulin test (in which case why did they bother with it  ).

It does sound a wee bit counterproductive! Still,at least you've got a referral now to the consultant who can shed more light on everything!
Oh,BTW,Did they carry out the GAD antibody test at all?

no they didn't (sigh!) - though I had a good chat with my GP this evening. Apparently it's been 6 years since I was diagnosed and I had ketones (he called it something ending in ..osis) when I was diagnosed.

At least, as you say, I have the referral now.

Ketoacidosis(not sure my spellings correct),usually a complication of Type 1's..Definately worth asking the consultant to pull your medical file up so he can see that as it sounds quite relevant,my GP and nurse didn't see the link between my other Autoimmune conditions and my diabetes-whereas my Endo picked up on those within minutes and ordered the Antibody test and C-pep.
I hope you too get the answers you want and good luck at the Churchill! ;)(My uncle's under them as well and holds them in high regard)
