More sensitive to carbs - any way back ?

I seem to be getting more sensitive to carbs

For the last week I've been getting higher than ever readings with foods I already 'proved' are okay
tonight I had 2 sausages, the type I've had before with no problems (bg 5.9)
but tonights reading 6.7 - all I had was 2 sausages in a creamy cheese sauce - as in cream and cheese

I don't feel ill so no particular reason for anything to be elevated - do anyone have any ideas about this ... will I have to re-test foods forever ? or will my sensitivity to carbs abate over time ?

Are you harbouring a bug? or could it be hormones? or the colder weather?

I would give it a bit more time, and maybe more frequent testing, before worrying too much. And the difference between 5.9 and 6.7 could simply be the error rate on your monitor.

Have you also checked that the ingredients and quantity havent changed in your meal? Just a tiny bit more food than usual can make a difference.

I'm with Lucy here. The difference isn't enough to get too concerned about. Meter error, or error in testing protocol, (washing hands well, DRYING them properly, not squeezing too near the site) can all account for this. Also, it could be that this time your readings were higher before eating than previously, and the rise might be the same. Maybe your exercise level in the period leading up to the meal was different - a short walk can make a difference. Was the time of day different? That can lead to different results. It's always discouraging to see a reading higher than you expect, but you can read too much into it. Try it again with the same meal in different circumstances and you might see a lower result again. Besides, there's nothing wrong with 6.7!
