Morning blood sugar level readings.

I was diagnosed about a year ago as having typpe 2 diabetes and I therefore still Learning about the illness. When I test myself 1st thing in the morning my bllod sugar level is between 140-170 mg/dl, is this anything to worry about?

Hi @Spongepants and welcome to the forum. Whilst those readings are higher than ideal, once diagnosed and action is taken to improve levels, the first thing in the morning, fasting reading is often the last to normalise, due to dawn phenomenon have a read here:

Dawn phenomenon is the term given to an increase in blood sugar in the morning caused by the bodys release of certain hormones. It is a relatively common phenomenon amongst diabetics.
