Morning (fasting) BG is higher these days

Hi,

I was diagnised type 2 in August 2009, and I've been using Metformin and Gliclazide, each twice per day. I've been achieving morning BG around 6-7 each day, and HbA1C was measured at to 6.3 a couple of months ago.

The last few weeks though my morning BG is around 10-12. I have had a cold most of this time too - can this shift BG upwards, or is it likely my diabetic condition has changed, and I require higher medication levels or something? Am I even heading to insulin dependency?

Hi Dave.

In answer to your question........if you are ill or have any sort of infection this will possibly have a detrimental effect on your BG levels and control.

You need to wait until you are fully recovered. If this is then still a problem then we can no doubt help with some suggestions and see if we can get to the cause, if it still needs to be addressed ?
