What I was thinking, tomorrow I'll decrease my basal and see how it goes Friday morning :)

Oh yes! haha, waw it's quite bad to be fair, typical teenager me

Deanna, you said you recently reduced your basal from 16 to 14. Just reduce it to 12 units, or was you meaning something else lol

I wish I could make sense of the bs patterns like Brett and many others who've helped me loads recently on this forum.

I used to have hypos in the morning - 7am lol! - and then a kind of punishing high reaction in the middle of the day and early evening. This was horrible. My doctor suggested changing lantus dose to morning, taken at same time as breakfast Novorapid and this has got rid of the morning hypos which ruined my days.

Deal with the hypos which are getting you down. I wouldn't do it without support from your consultant and/or diabetes nurse, though, unless you're confident about seeing the patterns and causes and effects.

Have you thought about speaking to your DN, just so he/she is aware that your changing your insulin dose, they may put you on a cgm machine to get better idea of what your sugars are doin, as I can't imagine at 17 with having diabetes only 9 months my nurse would of been pleases I was altering my insulin on advice given on a forum from people who aren't medically trained. I love the advice that's given on here and learn a lot from others and take their advice on board but would always keep my team involved before making any changes.

I mean no offence to anyone but I think a little caution on what's being advised, we only hear a little snippet of this persons issue, there may be other problems/medications were not aware o, (possibly not in this case but you never know) and were only specialists with our own diabetes, everybody's different and may not react how we would.

Hi

This sounds a little bit similar to a post I made yesterday about finding Levemir strong. I take 16 units of Levemir every evening and find that if I do not eat before bed then I will inevitably wake up low. I eat before bed every night. I also weigh just shy of 10 stone so we sound pretty similar. Someone suggested to me that I split my Levemir injections so 8 units in the evening and 8 in the morning. This might stop the Levemir dropping your sugars too low in the night and then you might wake up feeling a bit more normal!

I did think about speaking to my DN, but never did, still to this day I haven't spoken to her about it, hopefully next month I will be seeing her. I know, I can't believe how controlled I am, I dropped my Lantus dosage from 16 to 12 in the end and as Brett said, it did take about 3-4 days for it to settle, ever since I'm not waking up with hypos, from having one every day of the week to just having one once a week is brilliant! Very happy!

Hi!, sounds very similar, I haven't posted in a while, thought I'd let you all know, I did drop my Lantus dosage from 16 untis to 12, took 3-4 days for it to adjust and since I'm not waking up with morning hypos! and only have one hypo once a week, when I used to have about 2 every day.
