Morning Hypos

Thank you very much I would appreciate that. My husband didnt have a hospital appt today, he basically camped out in the diabetes clinic for hours until someone would see him and after all that he is no further forward....

Sounds very similar to what I have to do to get some advice. It took the doctors about 5 years to change my insulin from mixed long and short acting to the Lantus/Humalog injections. Every time I went back they would simply tell me to increase or decrease my dosage. A lot of them have not got a clue.

I started taking my mixed insulin 3 times a day (in smaller doses) coz they weren't putting me on basal/bolus, I loved their faces when they asked how my levels were coming down and I told them that's what I was doing.. Still wanted basal/bolus but was just trying to prove a point to them lol x

Yeah I did exactly the same because they were not listening to me when I was saying I was not getting enough long acting and to much short acting. All they were saying was 'try reducing it by 2 units and testing for a few weeks'.

So up to now, I have moved my Lantus injection from night time to morning. I have not been hypo in the morning since doing this so I am reckoning that I may have solved the morning hypo. Now I just need to get the dosage right. I am still getting hypo's and high's randomly but always seems to be after meals which I reckon might be my Humalog dose. I am now going to try counting my carbs. Will keep everyone updated with results. I will also post an Edexcel spreadsheet with my blood readings over a few weeks so people can see if they have any similar patterns.
