Hi all
Wanted to sound you out on something.
I have generally got my morning routine down pretty well. I eat a (fairly high carb) breakfast take a unit of insulin per every 10gs and then have a lovely 25 minute walk to the train station. Once I'm off the train I have another 15 minute walk to work - roughly 40 minutes exercise in all. After two hours my BG is at a healthy 5 or 6 mmoles/L.
Occasionally I'm in a rush so have to catch the tram to the train station so I can't do the 25 minutes walk but I simply up the insulin a bit - 1.2 units for every 10gs and again, all seems to be well
However today (Saturday) I had the same breakfast but haven't left the house (decided to have a lazy day - I'm worth it ;-)). So I upped by my insulin to 1.5 units. After checking my BG levels two hours after eating they were over 14 mmoles/L!!!! (Don't worry - I've checked for ketones and they are only at 0.1).
Anyway, I'm not that surprised they were higher than usual - but 14? I was just wondering if anyone else found that exercise made quite so much difference. Also, my insulin sensitivity for lunch and dinner never means I have to take more than 1 unit per 10gs. Is anyone else so much more sensitive in the mornings?
Thanks guys!
Gareth
