Hi all.
With finding myself groggy and sluggish in the mornings, then only seem to perk up pre-lunch time with my energy levels.
Am wondering if anyone else feels like this too, morningside only ?
Am like this spring, summer, autumn, winter. So am sure its not the winter seasonal deprived of light thingy !
I feel like I have to push myself to get going in the morns only mainly... [even needing 2 mugs of strong coffee to waken me up properly] I do sleep very well as a rule .
Anna.

Hi Anna
Sorry to hear this, it's not nice. I felt like this when I had very low cortisol levels, it's this Hormone that gets us up and at it in the morning and it also raises our BG.
It has a rhythm throughout the day..highest in the morning. Go for a serum test and see if it needs further investigation.
I used to feel like I could hardly lift my head off the pillow when it was very low. You get amazing energy crashes.
Also Low cortisol does not give us the deep sleep we really need to feel refreshed.

Just an idea, hope you get to the bottom of it whatever it is and feel better soon :D

I was just going to second that, its the first test that should be done with symptoms like these,
and will make such a difference to the way you feel

good luck and hope you are feeling better soon :D

Hi. oh whats the serum test ? low cortisol levels? What treatment is used for it?
Know my hubby says that I chatter away in my sleep! Me - myself, I do know that I do dream intensely a lot recently. [go all over the place in my dreams!]
At the worst some days I wake up for a couple of hours then crash out back to sleep till 11am.
It frustrates me as am losing - living my life time if you see what I mean?
Am due to see my DSN on weds, and do know I need to raise this with her.
Any angles on this serum thingy test to possibly approach her with...
Thanks. Anna.

Hi Anna
For Cortisol. They will just do a simple blood test, if these come back fine then all good,if they come back low you will need a few tests to see what your Adrenal function is like...none of them painful all straightforward ,so don't worry.

Also they may test your Iron levels.....Vague tiredness is very hard to get to the bottom off without other obvious symptoms..It could be age related hormone stuff, diet related, low grade allergy problems. Lots of causes

Are you Celiac? Do you manage to stay Gluten free...Celiac depletes iron levels something rotten.

Hope some of this may help :D

Hi Thanks for your help and pointers.
Am both coeliac and diverticulitis. PLUS do have an underactive thyroid since 1989 [I think?]
Memory is dreadful!!!!
The latest thing is , I might be a LADA diabetic ???
Cpeptide and AntiGAD next hopefully, as after now 2yrs on meds then now insulin my BG levels are YET up then dip a bit only!
With the 2 anti-immune diseases and tiny frame I have , done all the step by step meds the HCP's use given the guidelines.
Have severe medical tablet form intolerances, metformin [in all varying formulas ] and moviprep [bowel prep] almost killed me! [made me so ill ]
The first thing my consultant tested me for a year ago was cushings disease, with my tiny arms n legs with a barrel belly. [test was negative they said]
Tested positive for vitaminD deficiency and coeliac disease. [diverticulitis have had 7yrs already]
Plus my immune sysstem is both weak/poor. Keep getting reoccurrent sinus and upper respiratory infections. Needing stronger antibiotics to fight them off now.
Its feels one long journey for me.
Now am dragging myself up and around till pre-lunchtime till I perk up around this time!
My GP is fantastic and supportive with me and has written to my diabetes consultant outlining these very facts. As he has had to keep using double dosage antibiotics plus steroid nasal sprays for the chronic rhino sinusitis I keep getting.
Am okay after lunchtime, after my lite bite lunch then my levemir shot. Its weird.... :?
Anna.

Hi Anna
Like me you have a number of Endo/Auto-immune problems by the sounds of it, a web that needs untangling a bit at a time.
I have Hashimotos and celiac like you ,and find a slight misshap with the Celiac will make me feel terrible for quiet some time.
Cortisol is hard to pin down and as with Thyroid function, boarder line levels ,which are never treated can result in a patient being VERY symptomatic .
Maybe the LADA is the cause ,do you think you may be going high in the night? Do you test? If you are low Cortisol you may go high a good proportion of the night and not get the DP so be relatively low or in range on waking
Hope you get some rest bite from it all and some answers ,as it can't be easy for you at the moment :(

I'm glad to hear your GP is so good, stick with it kid it may take a bit of working out but hopefully better times are just around the corner. let us know how the GAD test goes.
