My last two repeat prescriptions for these I have had dispensed from my local Sainsburys pharmacy and to my surprise the lancets are  multicoloured (red,blue,green,pink,etc.etc). This must be a brilliant idea to make BG testing for children by choosing their own colour for themselves. I believe that the blue ones work best for me LOL ;-).
Whilst on the subject of medication I was diagnosed T2 some 10 years ago purely by accident after a cholestrol blood test and was prescribed Metformin and as my HBA1C started to return high readings I was given Gliclazide. There are probably a number of people reading this now and nodding their heads knowingly. Anyway last year my GP reluctantly referred me to a Diabetic consultant at my local hospital (St.Albans City) who told me more about Diabetes in 20 minutes than I had learned over 9 years and she was absolutely charming to boot. She suggested that I start taking Sitagliptin (Januvia) immediately, apparently this drug has only been licensed in this country for about 3 years. I started to take it and within 2-3 days my BG came down and the feeling came back in my toes, I now test twice a day (morning and night) and my BG levels rarely fluctuate outside if 5 to 6. Admittedly after a discussion with the hospital dietician I now watch loosely my carbohydrate and sugar intake, I am 70 this year, married for 50 years in August and thouroughly enjoy life to the full .
