muscle cramps

I take metformin and find that I get very painful muscle cramps. Is this a common problem and is there anything that can be done?

Hi. Metformin doesn't usually cause muscle cramps unless you mean stomach or bowle cramps which are quite common with the plain variety of Metformin. If this is the problem then ask for your prescription to be changed to the Slow Release (SR) version
