I must say that I prefer the original version of this song over Johnny Cash's cover.
Who remembers Spirit in the Sky, I Hear You Knocking, , In The Summertime, all the reggae stuff The Liquidator etc

I think it's just because I'm a die hard NIN fan!Have to disagree, Johnny's take on the song was much more powerful and emotional than Nine Inch Nails, maybe the video looking back on his life made it more so.
Yes vaguely
Off the top of my head , got a couple of their songs on my playlist!
I agree about Al Green, superb talent and voice, Junior Walker saxophonist supreme! Alex O' great voice after a few great hits, then what?
Archie Bell? jimmy and David Ruffin solo stuff? Biggest band in the world - Earth, Wind and Fire?
Eddie Holman, Eddie Kendricks solo.
My best local soul group - The Real Thing.
Best live performance - Edwin Starr. War! What is it good for? Nothing!
Any more?
He had another hit around the same time called 'War' my favourite of his is called 'Time'.Of course the fantastic Edwin Starr, and what a trackNever mind government politicians sitting in conference discussing the shocking state of the world we live in, and sending troops in to other countries play Edwin Starr's.......... War ! What it is good for? absolutely nothing.....................
Will still try to do my list, but it's going to be difficult trying to choose. ps the Lee Dorsey track is ' Working in a coalmine'
