My 11 year old newly diagnosed with T1 complains about pain in his legs and arm

The pain in his upper thigh was the reason I took him to the doctor and we found that his sugar levels were very high. That is how we found he had T1D. But the pain in his leg comes and goes (usually after intense exercise) and it affects both thighs. Recently his arm has begun to hurt to (upper arm/shoulder). Last night he was up crying in pain (as he does when his leg hurts). WHAT is this? He's been dragged to so many doctors in these past months I don't have the heart to tell him we have to go back. But does anyone have any experience with this -- could it be related to diabetes or is it merely growing pains?

Hi Alexandra and welcome to the forums.

It's understandable to suspect that every problem is connected with diabetes, but it looks like you may have got the right diagnosis yourself.

Personally I never experienced anything like what's described on the NHS website..

Always check with your doctor if in any doubt !
