Its all fairly new to me. At Christmas my 3 year old girl was diagnosed as having type 1 diabetes its such a big change to all the family. Just want to know does it get easier I feel im watching her every minute.

hi there and welcome to the forum @trisha85
it really is hard at first because not only do you have to contend with all these new things to do but your poor mind is going over and over with guilt and the "what if we had done's" scenarios.

you've joined up now with this excellent place and there are many helpers here.

it will get easier over time but being a Mum you will always watch your children diabetic or not.

I am tagging @Gemmablower who has a youngster with type 1 for her support

Hi trisha, how does your daughter seem to be handling it? Has she got used to the injections?

I was her age when I was diagnosed, I just grew up with it as a way of life and believe that I've had it easier than someone that's had to adjust lifestyle/diet later in life, obviously we all wish diabetes didn't exist but I just wanted to share that with you, don't beat yourself up these things happen, I like to think it's made me a tougher person :)

Thank you for your reply she is coping brilliantly she doesn't mind the injections or finger pricks at all. Shes still finding the change of food hard especially now with easter coming up she doesn't understand why she cant have chocolate or sweet things. She will get used to it all im sure since shes so young she will know no different.

Make sure to get on a carb counting course, and if you feel more confident research pump therapy :)
