My Atkins Life

@brun

Happy anniversary!!

I think I'll stay around 30g carbs as i think that's my level but I miss nuts! They'll be the first thing back on the menu, then strawberries. And anything treaty will be as low carb as possible.

Going down to 20g really improved my readings but that may have been due to the weightloss. Who knows?!

I'm just taking it day by day.....

I remember on slimming world there was an award for losing 10% as they reckoned it had various health benefits. It was called Club 10. Well done Deb on your weight loss and improved bg. You seem to be eating great meals on the food thread so I have no doubt you will be able to sustain this way of eating. Once the nut balls and strawberries return to your diet, you will be set for life

I can't eat psyllium husk either. We tried it in a waffles recipe! Couldn't leave house and had a close relationship with loo all day! Lol!

Yes. Try www.dietdoctor.com
This works for me

Weight can be a sensitive issue. Some people will day something. Others are worried about causing offence. I always remember going shopping with a friend a month after she'd had a baby. She tried on 2 tops and asked me what I thought. I suggested one top which looked great. She asked why so I said the other one clings a bit round your tummy. She didn't speak to me for a month!
Glad it's going well! Good for you! (((Big hug))))

You're doing really well! Know the feeling about the dress! You'll get there! Even at my slimmest, I always needed a bigger size in jeans! Can't wait till I can get into fat face dress. Realistically this will be in September! On the upside, just had to buy new bras as have now lost 4 inches round back. Yay!

Thanks Scandi!

Well today I got 6.0 for my fasting reading. It was delayed by about an hour after waking so is a bit inaccurate but I can't help thinking yesterday's baking may have nudged me up a bit. I couldn't have had any more than a dessert spoon full of frosting (part of the quality assurance checks) so it just goes to show how sensitive I may be towards the sweet stuff.

Anyway I'll never really know as my test wasn't comparative today so that's that!

Hoping to get lots of exercise in today through walking and a massive tidy up in this poor excuse for a house

X

Had a really good day of cleaning and sorting out the house finally, so definitely got my exercise quota in today! I should sleep well too hopefully now the weather has broken and the air is fresher.

This whole ketosis thing is interesting. Tonight the all mighty pee stick told me I was really into ketosis but funny thing is, I can't feel or see any of the signs! I'm pretty sure I don't have stinky breath as my kids would have a field day telling me I smell! I haven't noticed a change in my urine, again no pungent odour there.

I also don't feel any thinner these days which sounds odd as I am losing weight but there you go. I'm looking forward to this week's statistics. Having held some toasted almonds in my hand for my daughter, I practically drooled over them but resisted the temptation to sneak one in when no one was looking

Look at the number of carbs in icing sugar - and you may get a bit of a shock, I reckon a dessert spoonful would have probably been your daily 20 grams of carbs allowance...Ooops!! I got a similar surprise when I looked at cornflour and arrowroot as alternative thickeners for sauces...

I'll measure it next time and see! Got my daughter's birthday coming up so more cake making required!

Morning BG was 5.6 so I'm back in my favoured zone again. Interestingly, the ketone sticks have suddenly gone really dark the last couple of days and I read somewhere that this could be a sign of dehydration! Apparently the amount of ketones in your pee bears no resemblance to how much fat you are actually burning, so my obsession to be promoted from light pink to purple has been laid to rest!

Today I will commit to drinking much much more. I think I may have been under my quota yesterday which could prove the above hypothesis right. Who knows? Who really cares? Main thing is something is changing inside my body and hopefully for the better.

I'd really like to get the kids out of the way so I can go to town in the kitchen today and stock up the freezer but not much chance of that...

Time is my enemy.

But I will continue to plod on...

You will get there!

Well what do you know? My two girls were playing really nicely upstairs on their own so I could cook up five batches of fish pie for the freezer. Yum! Took longer than normal as I steamed everything but worth it!!

Next up - more lamb kebabs - they're so good! Need to do a shop first though.

Now about to go upstairs and see what result is from the girls playing nicely....

Out with the kids and dishing up their lunch when I came over all dizzy. I hate being caught out. Now I've got to find something I can eat and fast! I miss the olden days where a bar of choc would sort it!!

I do now after finally getting lunch at 3!!! And I was gutted - really wanted Brie but sold out! Had some pulled pork with mayo and lettuce and it was delicious. Would've been even better in a pitta but I'm keeping on track...
