My BS staying down, yay!!!

Hi all,

I just want to shout from the hilltops!! I'm so chuffed, my sugars have been staying down between 4.5 and 5.7 for a week now and this is what I have been working for!! Even today, having had some more carbs to curb my hormonal mood (crisps, melba toasts etc. naughties) it was 5.6!!!!!!!

I'm getting back on the wagon, but it is good to know that a small slip won't send me back up to high sugars so some peace of mind there!! I'm also only about 5 weeks fron diagnosis so things are looking up at the moment, and I'm living proof that it can be done and quite fast too!! :D

Well done. It's a fantastic feeling when you want to shout things from the roof tops. It just does you SOOOOOO much good. Congratulations

It is unbelievably good feeling! The knowing that I have stalled/slowed any possible complications for the moment is just so nice! If I now had a test, I would be told I wasn't diabetic, unbelievable! Especially since I have been told by my HCP's it is almost impossible to get sugars below 6 especially since I started from 16.3...

I haven't been counting carbs per se but haven't had any pasta, potatoes, rice or bread (except a couple of chips...) but have been eating loads of veg, nuts and nice meats and fish with gorgeous sauces, yumyum. I have included some root veg in too, but in lesser amounts and feel soooooo much better in myself for eating a healthy diet. I think I won't be reintroducing the high carb foods back into my diet but using the available low carb alternatives. A few special treats excluded perhaps...

Excellent feeling is it not saz, I too have had some positive results this last two weeks where my BS levels have remained just under the 6 mark, never as low as yours though, but still a marked improvement from the 8's and 9's I was getting. I to have "slipped" a little bit and treated myself to a bag of chips from the chippy and a small slice of homemade cheesecake earlier this week (not on the same day I hasten to add)

Keep up the good work saz, whatever it is your doing, it's obviously working

Well done Saz, that's a fantastic result - and in such a short time. I'm not sure if anyone on the forum has managed to bring their BS down that much in such a short time. You must post your story in the "Success Stories" thread.

But as you've proved for yourself, what your HCPs actually meant was it's impossible only if you follow their advice!

BRilliant work SAZ.
Your medics are not very well informed. It is perfectly possible to keep below 6. I do and I'm not special. I rely mainly on diet, but do use Metformin too. However it can't bring BG down by much.

Thanks so much guys, I still can't believe it really! I have had an awful cold and been doing nights a lot too so was convinced that was going to send my sugars soaring! I'll post myself onto the success stories when the sugars have stayed low for another week or two...

You got that right! Well done for proving them wrong!
