My day

I have a son your age, so old enough to be your Mum, cheeky lad. No offence taken. :joyful::p:happy:

None taken "yoda" you have a great weekend.

Good afternoon all, Well great weekend. Had a really nice weekend, Saturday afternoon with my friends, just soda and lime for me and then over to my partners sister for dinner. Her husband is a really clever guy when it comes to diabetes, he has been type 1 for over 20 years. He tested my blood before dinner 4.9 dinner was cooked for my LCHF diet. Compliments to the chef by the way and two hours after it was 7.6 so that's the first time since being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes that I have have my blood tested. My girlfriend has been so good with me all she does is worry about my diet but she knows that the best people for advise are on this website, it does not stop her completely from worrying. Lol
Well its doctors today to see my blood tests results to see why my liver is still getting damaged ( something about enzymes) being released, im sure it's the diabetes, but will know for sure at 3.
I'm finding this diet quite easy but as I was told it's no walk in the park and if you do stray then it's straight back onto it, im not worrying about eating a slice of bread or a packet of crisps. As long as i get back onto the diet and just start again, I'm finding it pretty easy it's just when your out or a special occasion that's the tester. Don't get down because you slipped up a bit. Don't get me wrong some people if not most will find it " No stroll in the park " but keep trying and be positive.

Happy to see you so positive, hope your appointment went well, of course there will be times when you have to pick the best of what there is to eat, but don't fret about it, its only once in a while and you might as well enjoy if you have no choice.

Hi yoda, lol yes the results came back all ok the only thing was my cholesterol it was pretty high 5.6, he did say my good cholesterol was also up. He said that due to me not being able to exercise because of my spine/disks problems that this was not surprising. Apart from the N.A.L.D. That I have had for the last 6 years approx he said this was due to diabetes (he suspects) I'm feeling quite happy. What are the best vegetables to have with my dinner Satindoll? I know about the none grown below ground, but what's the best ones that you can get from a store? Finding I'm not my usual self as far as the toilet is concerned, im sticking to the diet pretty well no hiccups as yet but I feel really good and awake. Great feeling.
I hope your keeping well satindoll?.

Hi Purp,

Sorry for getting back to you late, I like most veggies, cauliflower, broccoli, kale all types, spring greens, cabbage, runner beans, a few carrots, I like mashed carrot and swede but you'd have to test that for yourself , peas a spoonful, not tried celeriac, love marrow roasted/boiled with butter and pepper, aubergine, depends what your having with it I guess, sweet corn I love but like peas only a spoonful,
I'm afraid its a case of if you like it then try it but test it, then adjust the quantity either up or down,
Have to say I'm a salad fan and would even have it with my Christmas dinner if I could get away with it, I know I'm sad but there it is.

Well done on your results, don't fret about the cholesterol at 5.6 that's a good reading, as long as your HDL is high and the Triglyceride's ratio is low there is no probs, sometimes a low cholesterol count is worse than a higher one.
Take care, .... :joyful:

Haha yoda,

Amazing and very good to know what I can take with my dinner. I'll try all of them.
Well i was at my first step programme and i must say it was very good. The dietician was very knowledgeable and he never exactly shot this diet down but just as you say they have to stick by the official line. He never said Oooo no, you can't. He actually said he tried the diet and that he only lasted 3 weeks he wanted to try it so that he knew what was expected. Overall he was really good. No testing for type 2 and i said I did think that was fair, but i never pushed the idea of it.
I've another 2 appointments and i will go to them no bother.
This is the readings I got Satindoll: hba1c 59 blood pressure 115/79 hdl cholesterol 0.86 ldl cholesterol 3.6 triglycerides 2.6 kidney function > 59 weight 99kg bmi 32
I've a lifetime to get things right and I'm determined. I've lost in total since I started the diet 5kg so it is coming off slowly but best of all I'm not bloated and have lots of energy ⚡ I'm going to go to swimming as it's about the only thing I can do in comfort.
Great info again yoda, i know where to go if I have a problem.

Hi Purp,

Well that's good news, Hab1c should improve quite nicely, blood pressure good, cholesterol should improve as weight comes down.
at this point in time I wouldn't fret about any of them, all you need to concern yourself with is getting a handle on your bs numbers and the rest should fall into place.
Well done on the weight loss, as I said slow but sure works better than fast and furious.

Yoda, thanks good to know everything is looking good, just finished my dinner there, lamb chops cooked in butter with salad leaves, a handful if tomatoes and some red Peper. Mmmmmm lovely I never had anything this morning and at lunch it was sausage egg and bacon, its like all my dreams come true. Haha
I was going to ask, I should know this but with all this fat I'm eating, will my cholesterol levels increase? Or as you say as the weight comes off does it improve?
I've stopped milk in my coffee and i have changed to full double cream, i was reading about taking coffee a tablespoon of butter and Ooo what was it?? Something else, im going to try, its on diet Dr site.
Hows things with you? Keeping well?

Hi Purp,
Sorry for being late, had a friend over from Spain, and a dog at the vets so been busy, one would hope your cholesterol levels will come down, obviously there is no guarantee.
Most of the bad cholesterol is made by our own livers and does not come from our food, so although you may get a small increase for a while it should then drop, mine did and the good cholesterol has increased lots, I no longer worry about the total cholesterol count but keep an eye on the triglycerides ratio and as long as that is low I'm happy and so is the Dr as he halved my statins.
Keep up the good work, your doing brilliantly

Hi yoda,

Well things going good so far, I've been eating all the right things I hope, i was I'm my bed over the last few days due to my back, woke up Saturday morning and could not get out the bed, it was so sore. Its still painfull but at least I can get to the loo on my own. Lol
Got my glucose meter and as I knew I would, been testing all the time. Highest it's been has been 8, I've mostly been between 4 and 6 I feel really good apart from the back.
I'm trying to stay off the red meat and stick to chicken, cheese and eggs and veg all grown above ground of course!!!
Satindoll is double cream in my coffee ok instead of milk? As I noticed the sugars in full milk was pretty high. I need something. Lol
Anyway i hope you had a great time with your visitors. and the dog is ok? I love dogs they are just such great company.
Got my diabetes start programme tomorrow morning. Second one. So it's early to bed.
I hope your doing well and congratulations on getting the statins down, im not sure about them, there seems to be a lot of side effects taking them and I'm in enough tablets for this bloody back. Haha

Take care yoda speak soon. X

Hi Purp,
I always have double cream in my coffee and my cocoa, milk just doesn't do it for me except in a nice cuppa tea.
Sorry to hear about your back, take it easy,
Those numbers are brilliant, you should be pleased with yourself, keep up the good work,
I take Statins as I had a quadruple bypass in 2002 and need the help to keep the bad cholesterol under control, but as long as your trigs are low you shouldn't need them.
My Friend is now back in Spain, we had a wonderful time, I enjoyed spending her money, and poochie came through her op with flying colours, now waiting for results but not fretting too much over them.
Hope your course goes well.
Take care.

Yoda master,
A quadruple bypass??, in the name of the wee man!!!! Woooow that's something to brag about satindoll. Gid I've no chance of having more stitches than you then. Haha lol Oooo my god, I would of been bricking it Yoda, I was under the knife for five and a half hours on my neck disks to get removed and welded together, but that must of been some amount if time you were under. How did you feel after that? I bet you felt great, you must of been in a pretty bad way to get that done. I'm glad you got it done Yoda, that's some opp young lady, well done. How do you feel now??
Yea the course went well, only 3 of us attended this time out of 9 the first week. I had a great big steak tonight with cauliflower and green beens with cheese sauce. Mmmmmm beautiful my readings were 5.2 and 5.9 after 2 hours, it seems to be going pretty well and I'm really liking this diet. Its the first I've ever been on, when your health involved its amazing what you'll like. Haha
I'm so glad you had a good time spending your friends money, nothing better. Lol and I'm glad your dogs better after the op. I've just remembered I left my dog out on the veranda, she is nuts, loves watching the foxes out my back. Its pitch black outside and freezing but she is a large German Shepherd with a thick coat so she does not feel the cold, she is in her bed now but if I went near the back door she would think she is getting out again and start jumping up and down to get out. Lol
Good news about the cream, as I said I took full fat milk but when I saw the sugar it was poured down the sink. Lol
I bought some ketone strips but I'll wait till I get my carbs down further before I try them. What's my next step Yoda, to reduce the carbs even more??
Hope your feeling great and everything is going well. I understand about the statins now so well done on getting them halved that's a mission itself, so congrats Yoda.
Take care, sorry I never got back sooner but for some reason I can not get into the site without going into my email. It keeps saying password not recognised and i dont know how to reset it. Aaaaaah well, lol

Take care

Purp

Hi purp,
Sounds like your doing alright as you are, as long as your numbers stay steady and your gradually losing the excess weight then I personally wouldn't go lower with the carbs,
I'm fine now, didn't even know I'd had heart attacks, and apart from a few angina gripes no complaints.
Seems like you've been in the wars, hope your op was as successful as mine.
Your pooch sounds like a typical GS, they are good company mine are.
It may be best if you PM Admin to get your password reset, good luck, off shopping now, catch you later.

Hey Yoda,

Haha you have GS too??? Brilliant animals, i love mine so much, she has however been classed as dangerous by a trainer who worked in the airforce training dogs to jump out of planes and priduce guard dogs. Lol.
I had a blip last night I was at a party and ate some pastry and a small piece of cake, it tasted wonderful but I felt so guilty after it. Haha it'd not a problem because I've just put it down to a mistake and started where I left of.
My blood was 8.9 last night when I got home and not been under 7 all day, it is going down slowly. So i hope today will be the end of it.
Thats amazing how you never felt the heart attacks??? Not singular? How many did you Have? What's the angina attacks like?
Well this morning it's been chillie infused sausages some bacon and a couple of eggs for breakfast nothing for lunch. Now on the couch relaxing.
Well i hope that you enjoy your shopping and i hope everything is good. Have a great weekend my yoda.

Hi purp,
Naughty, but then we only learn by making mistakes, it won't be the last one, don't fret on it, your numbers should come down if your good for the next few days,.
No I don't have GS's they are way too big and strong for me, I have friends who have and I think they are great, mind I love all breeds, have a soft spot for Yorkies, Chinese Cresteds and Bedlingtons, or even Heinz 57's are welcome to come live with me.
The only thing I had with my heart attacks was a dull ache in my forearms, which went after taking pain killers but it went on for 4 days, so I went to the Dr's and jokingly said "I think I'm having a heart attack", I was put on the monitor and low and behold I was, I'd had aches before which they said was previous attacks, they reckoned I'd had at least 4 previous.
The angina pain is similar to indigestion so I take a puff of my nitro, if it blows my head off its angina if the pain stays its indigestion.
Anyhoo,be a good boy for the next few days and you'll be fine, next time have the pastry OR the cake not both.
Have a good weekend.
