Diagnosed at 10,I am now 32,
This poem is about me,And now i share it with you,
Geting up each morning, can be a great task,
Why is that your wondering, why is that you ask,
Ive woke up this morning to feel like death, and to see what my sugar level says,
Here we go again my anticipation rising, Its going to be one of them days,
Depending my levels and all the activitys, that ill be doing today
Il adjust my insulin count my carbs and pray my sugars will be ok,
Il eat my breakfast, take several things, just to make me feel sure,
A mars bar a fruit juice glucose tablets, and this is before ive left the front door,
I took from the fridge a cartridge of insulin, which was pretty cool,
I warmed it, checked it for cracks, please note that i am no fool,
This is just, the start of my day,
Please tell me more i hear you all say,
Sometimes i wish my diabetes was, a disability that you could see
If i had one arm or one leg, then maybe i would not have to plea,
Youve got 2 arms youve got 2 legs, nothing much up with you,
Live in my shoes just for one day, then maybe youll have a clue,
The daily practice you get i should be an expert by far,
Thought id cracked it but gone wrong again i dont expect a star,
Diabetes can feel, like the good old ball and chain,
I time bomb of complications that can cause heart ache and pain,
One thing i do know, and i know for this for sure, oneday like the man on the moon there one day will be a cure,
I try not get my hopes up it is what it is, I just try my best i can,
I try everyday for a good HBA1c but remeber god does have a plan,
Diabetes for me for one way another, has made me compasionate inside,
Caring person not quick to judge, fills me with quite alot of pride
On my last note one thing il say, il never give my diabetes my all,
The minute you do that your life has stopped, and your brewing yourself up for a fall,
Care for yourself try and improve, but that is all you will need,
Try and be happy love yourself and others, any more could be greed... Sorry was bit bored on sunday lol take care
