Would a fasting number of 6.8 indicate pre-diabetes?
Thank you - my Hb thingy test came out at 41 which is just below the pre-diabetes range, so I thought I would keep an eye on it myself, as the GP didint say a word, just handed me the test result.Yes, it would suggest that. But just one reading isn't exactly conclusive by itself. You should express your concerns to your GP and request an HbA1c test.
You'll want to look at the second table in the below link; but the whole page will be of interest

Thank you, it was the first night I have checked for myself, as I have just got myself a metre, after seeing my Hb thingy was 41, and just below the pre-diabetes range, not that the GP said anything, just handed me the result. Daytime numbers after meals are 5.8 to 6.7, apart from yoghurt which was 5.1welcome Kittylitter
well I would think it was close under a diabetic number, but that depends if it is the same high number every day and all over the day in between meals..

Individuals who have a blood glucose level greater than or equal to 7.0 mmol/L (126 mg/dl) will be retested and, if the results are consistent, diagnosed with diabetes.

I had 2 low fat cheese triangles and a weight watchers youghurt for breakfast, a cerial bowel full of steamed veg for lunch and the same for dinner and this is day in day out, so its not working - have given up sugar in tea after 43 yrs!yes when eating higher fats it is a good idea in the beginning to count calories also to know how much calories is in the fat foods..
because it is surprisingly little fatty foods one can eat without also gaining weight, especially women that eat much less than men before gaining weight..
see how much calories is in each nut type :

and here you can calculate how much you can eat a day without gaining weight :

but that said , one weight can differ for about one Pound every day without that meaning one has gained at all... if you eat much more fibres in your foods now htat can be the reason instead of a sign of gaining fats to your body

Yes fruits have gone too.seems you have to count calories to have control then.
Have you spopped eating fruits as well and turnes over to berries that are much better for diabetics ?
Yes fruits have gone too.
Thank you I shall be watching those caloriesmake sure you get some foods with high potasium in because many get the most from fruits... you could get it from avocado htat hasn´t hardly got any carbs in it... but avocadoes are very fat, so maybe not eat a lot of nuts the same day as avocadoes... but my best advice is still to count your calories.. especially here in the beginning.
