My fitness pal

I can't scan as I don't have a posh mobile phone. Still in the dark ages here with a desk top PC, a tablet, and a mobile that does what it says on the tin - allows me to make phone calls! :arghh:

Haha. So you have to physically make sure all your food on MFP is correct. It's a good app with just a few mistakes on I have found. Gonna try scanning but I think mine might have whiskers for these latest things

Your tablet should probably be able to scan, if it has an inbuilt camera.

Yes it has a camera, but its the size of a small laptop :(
You could try it.

In myfitnesspal, in the app, go to add a food. At the bottom of the screen, there's a little barcode icon. Click on that, and your camera will activate, as a scanner. There is a rectangle on the screen. Position the barcode to align with the rectangle, and it cleverly does the rest.

Give it a go. If you end up scanning in a few things you didn't eat, as practise, you can always delete them.

Thanks AndBreathe, it's very kind of you to explain all that. However, I'll give it a miss for now. I have a wide range of personal foods on MFP already, and don't have a problem using manufacturers websites and food labels when necessary. Fresh stuff is more difficult but I use Carbs & Cals for that. Once on MFP I simply adjust the serving size accordingly.

No barcode on fresh veg though.

I got 5 carbs for a medium tomato. I don't think I can spare that on something that didn't fill me up.
What's wrong with a tomato? Half a carb each for cherry toms. 4 carbs for a big tom. (on average of course) I eat cherry toms all the time with salad, and ordinary ones cooked. And so good for you.

Ah, the dreaded carbs. I don't think I want to start counting. Such a chore, but so important.

I am very new to it. Finding it hard. Have over eaten today and had an 8.3 before dinner.
