I do not have diabetes
Hi all

I have just joined as for a few months now I have not been feeling right at all

I have been having trouble sleeping as always waking because I am thirsty and I need the loo

And I will be the first to admit my diet is not good at all and have been finding if I eat and or drink anything with a lot of sugar I feel so tired straight after its untrue

I just zonk out , I don'd seem to get a sugar rush its just the opposite

It was only today when I was telling somebody about it they said it sounded like I have diabetes ?

So hence my web search this evening and ending up here, could it be diabetes ? or a wake up call ?

I have made a appointment with the nurse at my doctors who run a wellman clinc on thursday ,

Sorry its just seems like I am babbling now :(

Any advice would be great

Dave

Welcome Dave, it's good that you've decided to get your symptoms checked out at your Dr's and I hope all goes well for you on Thursday, if it is diabetes then pop back to the forum and ask for advice.

Hello and welcome to the forum Dave, good luck on Thursday with your appointment.

With best wishes

Welcome Dave

Yes, well done for looking into it and for arranging a check up. If it is Type 2 diabetes the sooner you know the better as the condition can be managed by diet, exercise and medication if necessary.

Come back to ask any questions, especially after you have been checked. Meanwhile have a read around, forewarned is forearmed!

Yes, Welcome, Dave. If they do any blood tests when you go to the docs remember to ask for a printout of the results.

Thanks all , I am now just thinking should have I just asked to see a doctor ?

Suppose its only a couple of days until I see the nurse for my checkup so just see what happens then

Do appreciate the replies

Like you say it's only a couple of days, sometimes the nurse appointment can be more useful than one with a doctor....just let us know what happens on Thursday. Good luck

Ring up and see if you can get in with your Dr before Thursday, if not just keep your appointment with the nurse. Good luck!!!

Hello and welcome from me. Good luck on Thursday, and if your fears are true, do come back here and ask all the questions you have. When you get your blood test results make sure you get a copy of the print out.

Hi Dave,

if you have a lloyds chemist near you and can't wait until Thursday they can do a diabetes check for you which might prepare you for going to see the nurse.

Good Luck.

Just remember whatever the outcome, it's nothing you cant live with, just need to make some changes which soon become a way of life.
Like others have said, ask as many questions as you need.

Hi and welcome. I would suggest staying with the nurse appointment to start with. They can do initial blood tests and if needed refer you to the Doc. Many nurses are very good with basic diabetic stuff and Docs vary a lot. Your symptoms could be diabetes or quite a few other things so good to get it checked
