My mom has white coat syndrome

I have it too.

It stems from a single appt when the doc took my bp after one of those surreal conversations when you start looking behind you for the toddler he was apparently addressing. Very patronising. So much so that I put in a complaint.

Anyway, since then, my bp goes through the roof if taken by a health care professional.

So I bought myself a blood pressure monitor and take my bp at home for a couple of days before the appt. I then take a photo of the screen (showing date, time and reading, as well as the make and model of the gadget). The the hcp takes my bp and exclaims that it is high, I explain it is white coat syndrome and show them the pic on my phone. They laugh, say 'its v common' and write down the reading from my picture, not their machine.

Hello. My mom is 71 years old and she has white coat syndrome and she gets nervous at the doctor her BP is always higher at the doctor.do you guys know anything that would help my mom calm down at the doctor's any info would help.

Hi I have the same syndrome and the first reading is disregarded and it’s usually lower
The second time

I have dysautonomia so my BP can be all over the place no matter where I am. The last couple of times it was checked in the doc's office it was so low it surprised me but they were all pleased. Haven't been back in months of course ... :doctor:

Following up from my previous post, I had my diabetic review yesterday, the nurse after taking my BP a couple of times after i'd suggested it was likelt to be high, was also happy to accept a list of recent (somewhat varied!) results from my checks at home.
