Have just updated my figures on my signature below.

Had bloods taken yesterday for HBA1C/Cholesterol and wasn't expecting results until next week, but got a call from the doctors to give me them.

HBAIC down from 54 to 45 and my cholesterol down from 5.3 to 3.8 which I find quite astonishing. Have recalculated my BMI to 23.8.

My main concern is now adding back calories will push numbers back up as the carbs will need to be added but controlled. I have restricted my calories by 50% for 10 weeks or so , something has to come back in.

But overall I am pleased and an advocate of low carbohydrates :)

That's fantastic! You must be delighted!

What changes have you made to make the difference?

Not sure!!

Okay, I probably used to have circa 2750/3000 cals a day and I have cut this back to circa 1300 for the last 10 weeks.

I have reduced carbs to around 75/85 a day. Not sure what they used to be but they were high.

I can understand the reduced HBA1C but cannot understand the drop in chol level. The weight I have now reduced to would have been normal for me 10 years ago and at that time my chol level was in the 6's. So it is not due to weight loss.

My concern is that I have artificially reduced my numbers due to low calorie intake. I now need to add back at least a 1000 cals a day and that will have some effect.

Next week I am on hols for the best part of 3 weeks and I am sure my appetite will be tempted on more than one occasion ;) I will put a few pounds on which I will need to lose on my return, but then it will be experiment time re increased calories and its effects on my BG levels.

Experiment, if it's bad, drop it, if it's good, and it suits you, go for it!

Well done Jim, that is wonderful. Very impressive.
I'm in the same boat as you as regards adding extra calories to maintain my current weight. Difficult, isn't it!

I guess that is the only way forward.

I know one thing, I could never have achieved this without the knowledge gained from this site and the individuals on it.

Hope to have some fun with the experimentation. There needs to be some upside to this:D
